Scary Tub Update

We are on day five of curing the epoxy, so no one has used this tub yet.  But I think it is an improvement, no?
Really, I'm embarrassed to even post the before photo.  All I can say in my defense is that despite appearances, this tub was in fact CLEAN.  It just wasn't pretty.  One or more of the flippers had painted this scratched up tub with latex paint, which wasn't loose enough to just scrape off easily (oh, no, that would be too easy!) but was loose enough to chip off a few chips at a time during baths.  And, you know, look scuzzy, gross and disgusting.
But disgusting no more.  Still have to fix the overflow cap, and some molding on the left where the drywall is not looking so hot (and really shouldn't be drywall, but that is another story for another day).  And now the tiles look quite dingy, what with the new paint and the new-looking tub.  If anyone is interested, it was the "Bathtub Refinishing Kit for Dummies" - yes, in a package just like the books - and I would use it again (if it lasts after use).  Very easy, simple directions, and everything included.

And, what to do to keep feet from slipping now that there isn't all that great crackled paint-y texture?
THAT is a problem I love to have.

Tooth Fairy Pillow

It's official.  My baby boy is a big enough boy to lose his first tooth.  Now, it had been wiggling for a week or more, so you would think I would already be prepared for this - but luckily this sweet pillow (inspired by Pinterest, of course) only took about 30 min and was ready in time for bed.

I don't know that you are ever really ready for your kids to grow up.

Pink PJ Pants

Now with more whales!  This was a remnant at Joann's - $2 I think - and there was just enough for a simple pair of pants for Sweet P.  With a little pink t-shirt that says "little sister" it's the perfect pj as the nights get ever warmer .

I traced a pair of her old pjs and made them a little bigger.  If you are looking for a simple tutorial there is one over at Rae's  or Soulemama recommends Anna Marie Horner's quick change pants.

Spring Post-it Note Flowers

We did this last year, inspired by Inner Child Fun (thanks Valerie!).  It has become a favorite.  Despite their love of scissors, both kids started building with squares of post-its when they couldn't wait to cut something out. Which gave me an idea for a city scape - we made this one from Made By Joel a while ago - back to Staples to see what I can come up with!

New Blooms

Ah-Mazing Amaryllis by Aunt Ruth and Uncle Bob, thank you!!!  The littles and I watched with awe as this grew (sometimes it seemed like inches overnight - next year, will set up a time lapse station to capture it!).  Then one morning it had ... flopped!  J. ran outside and we found a stake, then pipe cleaners, then carefully propped it up.  Doesn't seem to be any worse for wear.  Guess that's what happens when you have supersized flowers and a single stalk.
In the background, "The World" by J.

Happy Spring (although today it is snowing slightly but not likely to stick)

Cloud Dough on a Rainy Day

From Pinterest, of course.  4C flour and 1/2C baby oil.  Mix to the consistency of cornmeal.  Squeezing is a really good way to mix.  Squeezing by toddlers is the best mixing method.

You can see my attempt to contain the sandy dough in a bowl, on a cookie tin, and finally, just to the kitchen on the linoleum.  The last one proved doable.  When they finished, I had the kiddos strip and run upstairs to change.  The dough was everywhere, but it swept up like a dream.

This was really really fun.  The "dough" is very soft and a great sensory experience.  You can mold it like clay or playdough, then smush it (very satisfying!).  It does not taste good (J had to experiment) but will not hurt you if ingested, unless you eat the whole thing and then I would think you were very weird and missing something serious from your diet.

Bathroom Color Upstairs

A sneak peek.  Very Miami Beach.  We love it!  I've learned how much trim I have to give a second coat (thanks, flippers!  of course, I didn't notice it before this but now I can't look away!) and I haven't started any other of my long list of projects, with only two days (including leap day!) to finish.  But I do love this paint!!!

Next up, the tub of doom.
