You Would Think All I Do All Day Is Iron...

Scored this great old arm/sleeve iron aid at a thrift store - there were three of them, I could only save one. I hope the others went to good homes. The muslin on this one was worse for wear but now so pretty! Look, matchy matchy.

WIP - Needlepoint Bluebird

This has turned out very challenging but lots and lots of fun - a good small project to learn on. I drew the design from a Charles Harper image I found online - since it is a personal project for a gift I'm hoping there will be no copywrite issues!

I learned that I really should use a graph paper that matches the scale of the fabric, because it was kind of hard to visualize how the bird would look small-ified. I'm going to have to take the yellow out - I don't care for it after all, and I don't think there will be enough for the whole background. But overall I'm very happy with the way it is turning out. I haven't done needlepoint in ages and never from a design I put together (with all due respect to Mr. Harper's estate). J has asked for one with an eagle for his birthday - will have to find a good design (and get some better graph paper!)

AND HERE IS HOW IT TURNED OUT!

Fix-It Friday

Another "blink and you'll miss it" fix. Why do those always seem to take as long or longer than actually impressive fixes?

Remember our new cupboard? It needed a kid-lock for the wine-opening stuff, much of which is sharp, all of which is irresistible to 2-3 year olds. It turns! It screws! It has levers! Look, is that a knife?

Yeah, I thought so. Not very impressive. But oh so good for the peace of mind.

Secret grown up things for grown up juice. And canning. And it seems that there is more room in there for random things that will eventually end up there.

Like cats. After I took the drawer out but before I came back with the screwdriver I needed, someone felt the need to inspect things.
