Kismet Chair
A few days ago I posted this chartreuse redo from Better After, my new blog addiction. Lindsey scours the web for - what else - before and after photos of amazing transformation. Some I love, which I've been saving to "painted style" on my Pinterest page. Some are unbelievably awful, even after. Lindsey is always hilarious in her commentary.
Yesterday, I went to a yard sale and scored a $7 and amazingly comfortable chair with a blech floral upholstery job. Remind you of anything?! This one is staying on our porch and will be going white (what else) but probably not chartreuse ... hopefully this after photo - although not MY after - will keep me inspired. Because, yes, the icky nudey bookcase and chair in the hallway - still icky nudey.

Pink Anenome Bowl
Combining two tiny leftover bits of yarns I loved for their "main projects" into one interesting little bowl? Priceless. I plan to keep bobbins in here - it makes my current recycled plastic bowl used for bobbins shrink away in shame.
From "More Last Minute Knitted Gifts" but, like most of what I have made from Joelle's books, a gift just for me.

Baby Cuteness
Alas, just not for me. But this hat only took 15 min or so to whip up from some scraps and man, is it cute. Kind of made me feel guilty at all the fuss over how cute - and handmade - when really it would have taken longer to go to the store. And baby stores always make me freak out at how expensive cute things are, some times it seems the more wee something is the more something costs! Like bikinis.

First Berries of Summer
We went berry picking yesterday at a u-pick farm (where geese rested by a pond!) We considered making black raspberry ice cream but couldn't wait long enough - so blackberry smash on vanilla ice cream it was. And it was delicious, more than making up for picking in the million degree heat.
Happy summer!

Bird House
J has really gotten into construction and has great plans for building his own house - next to our house, so we can visit. To get a start we decided to build a practice house on a more manageable scale - for the birds. Downloaded some dimensions from the computer and found some scrap wood. Mommy did the cutting, and most of the nailing, actually. Poppa helped paint. When dry, we all used permanent markers to color in the details.
No occupants yet, but lots of compliments from the neighbors!

Summer Greens
I've finished! I really love this "rosebud" pattern, I guess it really would work better as a larger stole but my stash only yielded up the one skein. It will make me think of spring in the dead of winter.

We Made it to the Wedding
Guayabera shirt, check.
Pretty dress, check. Sans sash. "I don't like sashes" Mommy had a matching pretty shirt, no decent photos yet. We have been pretending to get married - and you always need a flower girl! - ever since this weekend.
Hope you too had a lovely Memorial Day.
